Day Five: Exciting New Things

I'm still a day behind, yes I know. I'm working on it. Technically, today is day six, I just have to finish editing the photos...

Anyway! I was initially going to do this photo in black and white, but when I doing the gradient in photoshop I noticed some presets and tried them out. I kinda really liked this particular one! Instead of going from black to white, it is violet to yellow orange. I really love it!

Exciting things is the title of this post for a reason. Mostly because of the exciting things I shot that night, but also the night I had in general. I don't think that I'm really supposed to talk about what I was shooting (not killing anyone, ya silly goose). HOWEVER, I will be uploading the photos to my flickr page after I've edited them. Keep your eye out!

I don't usually get a chance to hang out with my friend Steve (the guy above,) but that night I did. He's especially fun to hang out with when I've got my camera out. He's always trying to find some interesting to do for a shot. This was one of them. We were taking a break from shooting and he found this pipe thing somewhere. Then there's the idea to make it look like he was trying to attack me with it.

I really like these shots for a few reasons. First of all, I love his face! Especially in the second one. His expression is priceless. Secondly, I got a chance to use my flash. Second and a half (because it has to do with a flash), some of the lights that they were using were photography lights. With most of the shots that I was taking while using my flash, the lights around me also went off. It made the exposure of the shots pretty well perfect!

It really makes me want to have my own studio. I guess that's something that will happen one day... one day.

Day Four: Time to Chill

Yesterday was Saturday and I came home. Really didn't do too much other than edit, hang with the fam and later with my boy. I've been finishing some band photos that I took earlier in the week. This is actually what inspired the editing for this photo. Well, kinda. I'm playing around with photo filters that add an overall hue to a photo. I really wanted to try out how the purple worked out. I'm kinda unsure as to how I like it. What do you guys think?

Like I said, I came home so the photo that I have for this day is from my seat on the bus. Nothing too fancy dancy, but it's still a photo none the less.

Day Three: I Didn't Forget

I didn't forget! I just didn't have access to my computer/internet on Friday and Saturday. Therefore, here are the last two posts that I wasn't able to do. On Friday, one of the worst thing that could happen to someone who is playing around with their camera and taking pictures happened. I have a Sony, therefore my camera can hold an SD card and a Sony memory card at the same time and I can switch between the two. SOMEHOW I managed to forget both of my memory cards in my computer slots. Anyway, but that's really all the big news that happened with my camera on Friday. Nothing too exciting.

HOWEVER! There was something really exciting that happened Friday night. One of my friends is turning 19 tomorrow. In celebration, we had a surprise party for her Friday night. She was so surprised and it was so much fun! Words can't really describe the kind of night that it was, but since I didn't upload any photos that night, I have a triptic of Reilly! Nothing better than that, eh?

Day Two: Time for Commitments

So far, I've managed to stick with it. I'm on day two. It's turning out good so far. Sometimes my roommate and I have a little thing about not wanting to do the dishes. They tend to pile up and then there's less of a desire to ever get them done.

Today was my day to try and stick with personal commitments that I've made and have failed at so far. Doing dishes is one of the prominent ones. To help stick with it, I started the dishes before my roommate got home. When she returned, together we finished while discussing the events of our days and intermittent silence. Which was actually kind of enjoyable.

In light of actually doing the dishes, that's what todays photo is about. It's a picture of our clean kitchen! I know it's not the most spotless kitchen in the world, but at eleven at night, you don't really want to clean every nook and cranny. I still had this photo thing to do and I have to pack, because I'm going home tomorrow night. So, I'm going to take a photo, I'm just not sure if I'll be able to upload it tomorrow night. I shall try!

I hope you have fun looking at our clean kitchen! If you look at the photo of me up there ^ then you can see how prunny my fingers are. That's what you get for spending an hour up to your elbows in water.

Day One: The Begining

This is the day I official start the apparent 365 photo challenge. I know a few, few, one of you should be especially excite about this, because you have tried to convince me to do this a few times and I know you'll nag me about it often enough if I forget a day. I want to take one photo a day to upload that has a little tiny story about that particular day and what it meant to my life.  Plus, I'm also taking a self-portrait everyday as the counters.

The photos I upload will depict 365 moments in my life through 730 photos. I want to tell the story of my life, even if only for myself to look back on in a few years. Everyone has a story to tell, and this is sorta mine.

I want to try and make sure I take one photo a day. I'm horrible at doing things on a daily basis and don't usually complete anything I want to. I'm hoping this is the one thing that changes all of that. I want to be able to love my photos again. No more of this, "Well, it's ok. It could be better, I just don't want to look at it anymore," kind of photos. And on the bright side, it's definitely good practice!

This is a photo of something I've wanted to take a photo of for a long time, I just never have. I figure in starting this blog/challenge/personal mountain to climb, it's about time for me to take this photo. However, I never imagined having it out of focus like this. The initial intent was to have the image in the background in focus and more of the rose in the shot. For laughs and giggles, I threw on a 3X filter and messed around with the shallow depth of field. Something about the color drew me to try playing with a part of the flower just barely out of focus.

Now, the story of this shot is not just as what preceded this paragraph, but it's one of the flowers my boyfriend gave me for our one year anniversary. I wanted to keep it, even though it was supposed to die. instead, I dried it and keep it in a small one flower vase in my bedroom.
